Progressive Victory Establishes A Miami Branch
Will Online Progressivism Work In South Florida?
by Anthony David Vernon
Progressive Victory is a political action committee [PAC] that describes itself as “A new kind of political community — built by the internet, for the internet” (PV About Page). Progressive Victory has been expanding its efforts throughout the United States by welcoming in progressives of all stripes into its Discord community. While Progressive Victory has been assisting on a variety of political actions in myriad communities but its by and large goal “Is to ensure progressive candidates are elected to positions of power and progressive policy is implemented” (PV About Page).
Progressive Victory breaks down its online memberships by region, then by state, and then by metro area. But individuals from all regions, states, and metro areas are able to collaborate with one another. As Progressive Victory focuses on national and local actions, anyone being able to propose or share possible actions.
Now Progressive Victory is not without its critics: “Progressive Victory is a dark money group…I would strongly encourage anyone affiliated with Progressive Victory to take a moment to reflect on whether or not this is the kind of operation you want to be affiliated with, let alone support” (Andrew Londre). Progressive Victory members state they are in the process of establishing a PAC when they are already filed as a PAC, but it appears Progressive Victory is establishing a direct pact and no longer through its private organization, Prog Vic Act. The misfilings mostly boil down to paying YouTubers through their private organization rather than Progressive Victory directly, but this was noted on Progressive Victory's own filings. That all being stated, the filing issues and PAC establishments here may not be malicious, but may be technical errors out of inexperience (FEC).
But we cannot ignore the problematic content creators Progressive Victory has aligned themselves with; Vaush and Destiny. While Progressive Victory has distanced itself Destiny, the organization still hold associations with Vaush. However, the membership of Progressive Victory by and large distance themselves from Vaush. But Vaush does regularly promote the organization and guide their actions.
In addition, working with Progressive Victory does not necessitate granting any financial contributions. Progressive Victory is a good resource to bring progressives towards actionable items and events. One can choose not to help with election-based DEC matters and can join Progressive Victory, no matter their flavor of progressivism. You can join Progressive Victory no matter if you think progressives should work within or outside of the Democratic Party. I would know from personal experience.
No organization is perfect, Progressive Victory is a work in progress, pun intended. Yet, it will be interesting to see how Progressive Victory establishes itself in South Florida and throughout the entirety of the United States. Only time will tell if online progressives can push progressivism in South Florida.

It is ultimately up to you as an individual if you think Progressive Victory is a useful means to participate toward progressive ends. I have cut my associations with Progressive Victory, you may or may not end up doing the same if you join Progressive Victory.
